Why do we need help?
We are in the critically endangered list due to several reasons damaging the our Amur Leopard population. As Amur Leopards, we are largely poached for our beautiful fur, which are sold for a high price in villages near our local habitat. (Density Independent Limiting Factor: Environmental resistance that affects a population regardless of population density ) Not only that, villages that live near our habitat forests have a very easy access to the forest, hunting us as well as our prey like sika deer and hare. Due to this problem, prey has grown scarce, making the situation worse for those of us searching for food. (Density Dependent Limiting Factor: Environmental resistance that affects a population that has become overly crowded ) There are less than 40 of us left in the wild. For us to grow in population, poachers must first stop hunting the prey we eat and stop hunting us for our fur. |
